Adobe Illustrator/Changing a logo to a pantone color

Question
Hello,
I am trying to change a 2 color logo (a jpg) to the company's pantone color which is pms 350. I have tried to do it in photoshop by putting a filter on it but that didn't work. How would I go about doing this? Maybe Illustrator would be better? And one more thing, when they say pms 350, how do i know if it is solid uncoated/coated or any of the other pantone options?
thanks a bunch!

Answer
Hi Ashleigh,

Illustrator is definitely easier, you can either recreate it from scratch or use Live Trace. In Photoshop to make it a true PMS color, you would have to change your color more to Multichannel, and set up a PMS color spot channel in your channels palette.

As the PMS color goes, I can't say which one they want - you will have to check with your client.

Thanks

Kevin
