I am trying to open a very old .eps file I created on my mac using a version of
Illustrator/Photoshop circa 1994 ) I don't remember the exact version) get
unknown format when trying to open in either Illustrator CS4 or Photoshop. It's
old artwork a client is wanting to revive. Any options that can assist me in this
or is this a dead done deal.

Hi Larry,

If you get an unknown format when you try to open, chances are this is not really an .eps file. It is probably some other format that someone typed ".eps" at the end of it thinking that was safe. Your only option is to remove the .eps and see if PS or IL recognizes what it originally was. Unfortunately with a file this old, you may be out of luck.

Have you tried Acrobat at all?
