Adobe Illustrator - adobe printing image crooked

Expert: Kevin Stohlmeyer - 7/6/2009

Question
I have a HP B8350 printer when I print graphics to the printer the image goes an 1/8 askew it is only truly noticeable when the image is portrait style with a border image area 8x10 printed on 8.5 x 11. I worked with HP for a week. Uploading drivers they even took over the computer to try and fix it.They then sent me a new printer and still the same thing. The printer worked great for about 6 months. Adobe won't help because it is CS2. I manually go in and adjust it in illustrator but it is very inconsistent. When I add paper the angle adjustment will change.I have been living with for a year but I am truly tired of it. I am wasting time, paper and ink. Have you any idea what went wrong and can it be fixed?
Becky

Answer
Hi Becky,

If the image is skewing or crooked as your title says, than this is strictly a printer issue, not an AI issue. There is nothing the application can do to resolve this besides you manually adjusting.  I've done some research and this seems to be a big issue with this printer skewing images as the paper goes through. My only suggestion is to contact HP and see if they have a solution, but from the issue's Ive seen this doesn't seem hopeful.

Wish I could be of more help.

Kevin
