Adobe Illustrator/illustrator and cad

Question
I am using the educational version of autocad 2010.  I am trying to place my drawing into illustrator cs3 and it is saying that this format cannot be placed.  I also tried exporting to dwxf, still didn't work, and exporting as a pdf pixilates the lines. Cad won't let me convert an educational drawing to an earlier version either. Am I attempting the impossible here?

Answer
Hi Amanda,

Illustrator CS3 does not support Cad 2010. Im not even sure if CS4 can support this version since it is newer than the Adobe software.

The only way to import is backsave your cad file to an earlier version in order to import to CS3 but as you have stated your version will not allow. If you can export out to a DXF or DWG file that should work. PDFs are never a good option since they come out at lo-res versions.

If you can find someone that has the full version, then you could backsave.

Sorry I wish I had better news.
