Adobe Illustrator/Editing Text in Illustrator CS3

Question
Hi Kevin

I hope you can help me. I have to change some text in an Illustrator file. I click on the text and a box appears around the text, however when I click on the Text tool the cursor does not allow me to edit the text. Instead, it creates new text without getting replacing the original text.

Can you tell me what I'm doing wrong and ho I can edit this text?

Many thanks

Kaie Cozier

Answer
Hi Kaie,

It sounds like you do not have live text, rather the original text has been changed into shapes using the create outlines option. Unfortunately if this is the case you can tell by seeing if there are points and paths around the letters when you click on them. If so, you will have to retype everything you need to edit.

Thanks

Kevin
