Adobe Illustrator/"Frozen" illustrator file

Question
I have a logo that I cannot access in Illustrator. It is an eps and I need to reverse it, as it is a solid color now and the design calls for a knockout. I can't get my hands on it. It is not grouped, it is not locked. There is only one layer. Don't know what to do.

Answer
Hi Mare,

Can you even select the entire object? If not, then check to make sure the layer is not locked. If the layer is not locked then go to outline mode (view outline) and see if you can see the individual objects. If it appears as a large rectangle, then your image is a flattened raster image and not able to be edited in Illustrator.

However, if you can see the parts as paths/shapes, then try selecting it and checking for a clipping mask. If it has one, release it and you should be able to grab the individual parts.

Thanks

Kevin
