Adobe Illustrator/Printing tiled documents

Question
I am making a first attempt at tiling to produce an A2 poster printed on A4 tiles.  I can print three of the four tiles quite OK, but every time I get to the top RH tile and try to print that the file crashes, sometimes with a message telling me that Illustrator has generated an error and will be closed by Windows.  It makes no difference if I select that page to print individually or select Print all.  In the latter case it prints the page(s) before it gets to the top RH tile and then crashes.  I have tried rearranging the tiling so that instead of just a neat four sheets of A4 it is configured to use 9 sheets (3x3) with lots of overlap beyond the artboard - still the same.

I am using a Canon Lasershot and a Canon MP270 and get the same problem with both.  I am using Illustrator 8.0 and Windows 2000.

Just to make it even more puzzling, an A3 sheet printed on 2 tiles works OK!.

Answer
I have no idea why this is happening.
Try saving the a4 tile as a pdf, either direct from illustrator or using distiller, and then print the pdf. For colour matching purposes you may have to save all 4 as a pdf to make sure the colours are all the same.

Hope this helps
