Adobe Illustrator/fonts not showing in illustrator

Question
I am working on a mac running Leopard 10.5.8. I am using (FZXSSB.TTF) FZNew ShuSongB-Z10 and (FZHTB.TTF) FZHei-B01 chinese fonts in indesign CS4 and they work fine but they do not show up in illustrator not even at the bottom of the font menu. I bought the entire Big 5 font family from online font company. The fonts are loaded using suitcase fusion. How can I get these fonts to show up in illustrator?

Answer
Hi Linda,

Unfortunately, some True Type Fonts are not compatible with Illustrator. The only advice I can give you is to try loading them up, activating them, then restarting everything including your computer. But if you have already done that and they do not show up, then they are not compatible with Illustrator.

A work around is to create your typography in InDesign, then convert them to outlines and copy/paste them into Illustrator.

I know its not the answer you are looking for but it is a known issue with Illustrator and TTF.
