QUESTION: Hi Kevin. All of a sudden my Illustrator CS2 won't launch.  As its trying to initialize the clock just keeps spinning.  Never had this problem before.  I closed all other software, restarted, shut down and restarted ...  tried opening from the program from the application icon as well as from a file, no different.  I posed this problem to another expert who gave me steps to clear my font cache ... did that. Found the Prefs file ... moved that to the trash.  Same problem occurs. I am out of town working on a project and don't have the software here with me to be able to reload it.  Looking for some additional advice to resolve the issue before returning home and then trying to reload the software. Thanks

Hi James,

Unfortunately it could be something that you installed after Illustrator, such as a font or system update. Clearing your font cache wont fix this. What I would suggest is to 1. reset AI by holding down shift+option+cmd(apple) when you start the app. then if that does not help then 2. go into your fonts and start deactivating fonts to see if you have a font conflict.

If that does not work, you may have updated out of compatibility with Mac OS. Its not something I like to tell people but CS2 is not technically compatible with the Mac OS and eventually will stop working on the OS. Reinstalling may not help.
