Adobe Illustrator/Print Tiling

Question
QUESTION: Hello,
I’m making a flier. The sides and top print out just fine at .25, but the bottom always cut off at .5

Is there anyway to change the print tiling so it prints at .25 all the way around the page?

ANSWER: Hi Jayme,

The issue is with your printer, not your design. Your printer is cutting off 0.5 at the bottom to accommodate its grippers grabbing your paper. Tiling will not solve this. Your best option is to create a .5" inset on all 4 sides or print using another printer.

Thanks

QUESTION: Hi Kevin,

Thank you for answering my question. I really appreciate the service you provide. It's really helpful.

I'm afraid though that I still don't understand. When I print from Illustrator CS on my PC, the margins print at 1/8" on all sides, but when I print from Illustrator CS4 on my MAC, the sides and top margins print at .25 and the bottom margin prints at .5

Is there a way to adjust the Illustrator CS4 printable area?

Answer
Hi Jayme,

Thanks for the more information - that is different story. In your Illustrator print window, check to make sure that you have both the correct printer and page size selected. If you leave it "defined by driver" your printer will tell it to cut off the bottom .5". If you choose letter - it resets to 1/8" around the edges. You can adjust the print area by just grabbing the page in the preview window and dragging it around (a more exact way is to use the X and Y adjustments on the right).

Thanks

Kevin
