Adobe Illustrator/Trademark and Copyright keys in Illustrator

Question
You answered this question for someone before, but that key combination didn't work for me: I too need to insert a trademark symbol and cannot locate the right key combination on my laptop.

Answer
On a PC, make sure num keys are active (by pressing numlock).
Hold down the ALT key, with ALT key depressed, type 0153.
Note that if the font doesn't contain that glyph, you won't get a TM, you'll get a box. Test this in a basic font like Arial. Oftentimes, I have to set my TM's and C's in Arial or Times because the font I'm using for the bulk of my text doesn't contain that glyph.

For a Mac (you didn't mention your platform) see this:

Expertise

I can help troubleshoot your Illustrator 9 through CS3 (and most CS4) problems and suggest the best way to get the results you need. Although I can help with some installation issues, my forte is prepress and how to use the tools and functions in the application itself.

Experience

I've been a graphic artist for over 20 years. Oh my God, 20 years.
