Adobe Illustrator/pencil tool

Question
Hi Kevin,
I recently had to re-install my CS3 and when I went to use it, the pencil tool doesn't show the line until I take my pen (or mouse) off. It just shows blankness until I let go. I've been using this program for many years and have never had this happen before. I've checked the defaults in the program and my graphics tablet pen and everything looks normal. I uninstalled it and re-installed it to no avail. Can you help!
Thanks,

Pamela
ps it works fine in Photoshop

Answer
Hi Pamela,

The pencil tool shows dots behind it and not a stroked path like the brush.

Normally when I hear that the pencil dots are not showing it is because of the color of the layer you are drawing on. The little dots that follow your pencil pick up the color of the layer in the layers panel. You can change this by double clicking the layer and changing the color.

Thanks

Kevin
