Question
Hi!
I'm working on a magazine using Adobe illustrator and Adobe Photoshop,so i started working on the magazine at my workplace where i use windows xp and version 7 of both Illustrator and Photoshop.
I brought the files home so i could work from home but they do not open, the message comes as "THE FILE IS AN UNKNOWN FORMAT AND CANNOT BE OPENED".is it because i use windows vista at home and illustrator and photoshop versions cs4?I would appreciate your assistance on this issue as soon as possible as my magazine has to be submitted for printing by 15th of march 2010.
Thank you very much

Answer
Hi Zahra,

Vista does not make a difference but the application does.

Everything you do in CS4 must be back saved to the versions you are using at home. Unfortunately, Illustrator and Photoshop 7 are so far out of date that you will lose a lot of features from CS4. My best advice is to stay late at work and continue in the CS4 environment or update your home system.

Going between the two versions will cause a lot of issues for instance- Illustrator only goes back to Illustrator 8 (Illustrator 3, although an option will flatten everything and will not read correctly in 7).

Sorry
