Adobe Illustrator/cropping/exporting problems in CS4

Question
I recently updated to CS4 and just realized that all of my exports in Illustrator are not fitting my cropped section. Then I learned that its not a crop tool anymore it's an artboard tool. I have all my old images created by masks and this artboard tool is exporting more than I want. How do I change the settings so it acts more like a crop tool or do I export only what I want? Do I need to learn how to recreate all of my old images and templates differently now?
Thanks for the help.

Answer
Hi Joel,

Use the artboard tool exactly like you would have a crop tool. Select the artboard tool and resize the "crop" to your liking. Or you can leave the page size as is and add a second artboard on top like a crop. When you export out, select only the "cropped" image or both.

Creating your templates will be a little different. However, when you open up an legacy document with crop marks (not created manually but using the tool or crop function) in CS4, it should ask you how you want to convert the document to the new multiple artboard setup. Choose to include the page size and the crop marks. This will keep your existing crops in place.

Thanks
