Adobe Illustrator/gradient tool

Question
Hello, i saw your answer to a question about dragging color on to the gradient tool, I'm finding that difficult because every time i click on swatches, the gradient tool closes and the color refuses to drag on to the gradient tool

Answer
Hi Simba,

You should be working with the gradient WINDOW not the gradient tool. Go to Window > Gradient.

There is a chance that your gradient window and your swatches window are nested/hooked together? So one would disappear when the other is clicked.

To fix this, click on the title bar of the gradient window and pull it away from where it is anchored and drop it somewhere else. Do the same with the Swatches window.

Now you should be able to work with both windows at the same. You can then drag colors from the swatches panel over to the slider bar on the gradient window and change the gradient.
