Adobe Illustrator/Blurred Lines and Shapes

Question

I'm fairly new to illustrator and I'm having a difficult time with the line and eclipse tool (well...all shape tools for that matter). These shapes and lines are coming out slightly blurred both on screen and when printed. Any tips? I'm also having trouble with my fill pattern. It also becomes blurry. I've tried this on two different printers. :-( I've attached an image, which may provide a more clear picture of the difficulty I'm having. Have you heard of this.

Answer
Hi Tom,

Im not really seeing the "blurry" aspect in the shapes, but I do see it in the pattern. It could be how the pattern was created if you used any kind of raster effects or placed images, it would come out blurry.

However, the shapes look fine. If they do print blurry, it could be the kind of printer you are using as well. Inkjets or any kind of liquid ink on paper printer will have a little bit of bleeding when it prints, but it should not be that noticeable. If you print on a laser printer, it should be perfect and sharp.

I think you may just be too critical of what you consider to be blurry. If you zoom in on the shape it should appear as a solid smooth line, not pixelated or blurry.

Thanks
