Question
I am at my wits end. I have eps files that i got off a cd. I have already opened one and was able to use it. When I went back to the folder today and tried opening any of the eps files, I cannot edit them. When I have selected the selection tool, or any other tool for that matter, it says it is selected but my cursor is the pencil tool with a line through it. I cannot select anything either. Apple+A is not a valid option. Please help. The agency that designed these logos is no longer in business, and I don't want to have to recreate all of them. Thanks!

Answer
Hi Katie,

It sounds like a locked layer. Open the layers panel and make sure that the item is not on a locked layer. If you do see a lock icon, click it to unlock. You may also need to unlock individual items, so go to Object>Lock>Unlock All afterwards as well.

Thanks

Kevin
