Adobe Illustrator/How to follow a path

Question
I am working in Illustrator CS4 and I need to make a trail of footprints follow along a curvy path. Image a treasure map with a dashed path curving aroung obstacles. That is exactly what I need to do except with footprints instead of a line. I'm wondering if there is some possible way to make that work using an Illustrator tool or shortcut??

Answer
Hi Jayme,

You need to use the footprint to create a brush. This will allow you to have the footprints follow the path as needed. First, open the brushes panel. Then duplicate your feet a few times (Left/Right, etc.) then select all your feet and drag them into the brushes panel and release. It will ask you what type of brush you wish to create. Choose "Scatter" and apply this brush to your path. It may take a little adjusting, but the results will be what you are looking for.
