Adobe Illustrator/AI - Photo Quality

Question
I am having a concern here. Appreciate your good answer.

When I place a picture on AI and embed the image, the quality of the image get a little distored [like boxes]. But when i wiew in larger window i cant see that distort. will this effect the quality of the image when i print as A4?

Answer
Hi Kathiravan,

The only thing that will effect the quality of your image is the original resolution. If you are placing you should check the resolution and make sure it is 300 ppi for photo quality. If it is not you will have to either resample in Photoshop or find a larger image to start with.

I'm not sure what the boxes are unless it is pixel artifacts from a lo-res image.

Thanks
