Adobe Illustrator/Link Images

Question
Im using OS10 CS4. When I place images into an AI layout the images are automatically embedded into the layout. I don't get an option to embed or link the image. So for layouts w/ large or multiple images this makes the file size huge. Is there there an option that I turned on/off causing this issue?

Hi Debra,

It sounds like you are using the correct method - the place command. The option for linking shows up as a check box in the place dialog box. Check it and it will remain on. If it is unchecked, it will stay that way until you change it.
