Adobe Illustrator/Placing Illustrator files into InDesign

Question
Hey Kevin, hopefully you can help. I am creating a portfolio for architecture. I am using Illustrator and InDesign CS3. I have created single pages on Illustrator. I placed the first Illustrator page in InDesign successfully. But when I try placing other Illustrator files, some of the images or texts on the Illustrator file doesn't appear on the InDesign page. And even some whole Illustrator files show up blank when placed in InDesign. Is there something I'm doing wrong or do I have to do something with the type of file I'm placing? Thanks

Answer
Hi Mike

Two things come to mind, first make sure all of your work is on the artboard in Illlustrator. Anything off the page will not show up. Second in InDesign, try going to view>display performance>high quality. Sometimes the low-res view doesn't help. If that doesn't work, you should be saving as .ai file making sure to keep the PDF compatibility turned on in the options.

Hope this helps, if not reply back.

Kevin
