Adobe Illustrator/Transform Changes Dimensions

Question
I asked another question earlier and I have been trying to find an answer to this one as well, but can't seem to. When I use the transform palette haven't tried other methods) to size an object, it often gives me weird dimensions. For instance, I have a playing card that I resized to 3.5"x2.5". However, it changed it to 2.4883"x2.4883".

The only site I found online concerning it said to uncheck "snap-to-point", which I did, but it didn't make a difference. Thanks

Answer
Hi David,

Are you using the transform palette or transform menu? Normally when I see this, it is because people are using either the Transform controls under the Object Menu or worse, the Effects menu.

If you are using the palette, try unlinking the W and H controls. It could be that you have them linked proportionately so when you change one size, it changes them all. You can also try turning off "Snap to Grid" if its on. Snap to point has nothing to do with transforming, unless you are manually dragging points around.

Thanks
