Adobe Illustrator/I can't save AI file with a

QuestionQUESTION: when i tried to save a file which had a jpeg picture(no matter how big the pic size is , i'd tested) "placed" in it, but it always auto close the program without any errors or something. I tried to reboot, deleted AIpreference file or sth ,nothing worked
I use Illustrator CS4, OS/Microsoft Windows XP Professional
and it was the second time not long before this time, and i even reinstalled my OS last time..(because it was no use for only reinstall AI)...
what can i do ?? i really don't want to reinstall the system again..><

Does it crash when you are placing the image into Illustrator or when you are trying to save after you have placed the image?

This was a common problem with Windows and Illustrator CS4. Here is the solution:
In your OS find your printers. Now if you notice that the default printer is not a local or existing printer then that is simply your problem. Change the default printer to a local printer or Adobe PDF, network printers can cause the crash still. Now open Illustrator and got o print the document, it should default to your OS default printer, if not change it to your default. Now you should have no problems saving. If you have printers listed on your system that dont exist I suggest your remove them as this can cause the crash as well. If you still have problems then your Print Spooler may be corrupt or is having issues. That I cant help you with.
