Question

Student_Demographics_R
Hi I had asked a question about using spot colors in Illustrator which was
answered. Now my next question, is there a way to do 3D charts using one
spot color and black? I tried that but I got cmyk and 1 spot! I'm using CS5 and
my client wants 3D charts in 2 colors. HELP!! I've attached a file so you can
see what I mean. Thanks so much.

Answer
Hi Marilyn,

3D Effects do not support spot colors. Your best bet is to create the 3D image, then retrace it using the pen tool and filling it with your spot colors.

Normally you would think that just expanding the effect and filling the resulting shapes would work, but you end up with a lot of little shapes, especially the shaded areas.

Thanks
