Question
Hi, I'm trying to create spot color charts in Illustrator with gradients and I believe
they will output to cmyk and the job is only a 2 color job. Can I do this with
black and a spot color only?
Thanks
Marilyn

Answer
HI Marilyn,

The best way to check is to either use the Separations Preview in CS4/5 or to print the document using manual separations.

One note is to make sure in your effects>document raster effects settings that you "preserve spot colors" is checked.

Not knowing what version of AI or exactly how you are interacting the black and spot colors, this is the best advice I can give.

Thanks
