Adobe Illustrator/CS3 scripting a demo of multiple Fonts

Question
Hi Kevin,

I'm seeking some help with what I think may be an issue Illustrator  CS3's scripting capabilities may be able to handle but are beyond my very limited programming skills. I would like to be able to generate demo sheets of a short text string displayed in different fonts, and I want to be able to change the font list and the string. For example, I'd like to input a list of say 20 fonts and see what a name would look like in each font, then be able to explore a different font list or what they'd all look like if I make the first letter of the name capitalized instead of lower case without having to make 20 changes.  I'm using AI CS3 on an intel Macbook pro running OSX 10.5.8.

Thank you for your time.

Regards,
Brandon

Answer
Hi Brandon,

Instead of scripting, a much easier and the standard way to do this is to use font management software, such as Font Explorer from http://www.fontexplorerx.com It allows you to input whatever text you want and be able to view them in multiple type faces. You can then print the lists from the program.

If you do need this in Illustrator, you will need to find someone who can use Javascript to create the code you are looking for. It is not an Illustrator nor really an issue at all.

Thanks

Kevin
