Question

Scissors
Hello,

I have created a brochure design which is for print in Illustrator CS5.  I have a JPG of a pair of scissors on a white background that I want to place in to the design.

I would like the scissors to have a transparent background.

How can I remove the white background from this image and then get it placed in to the design in Illustrator?  Or should I be trying to remove the white background directly in Illustrator using a clipping mask?

Hi Gail,

The only option is Illustrator is to outline with a path and create a clipping mask. If you had Photoshop, you could put the scissors on a layer and remove the white background and save out as a psd or png which would preserve the transparency. Jpg does not allow that.
