Question
what is the differences between open and place commend in illustrator...

Answer
Hi Pragathi,

You use open to open existing vector or Illustrator files, but you use Place to bring in files from other programs, normally bitmap/raster images from Photoshop or another app. Placing keeps your Illustrator defaults in tact such as swatches, brushes, settings, etc. Opening a bitmap/raster file gives you no swatches and your artboard is set to the size of the opened image.

Thanks
