I'm on AI 9 on a PC, and I'm trying to add effects or filters. I can do things like drop shadow & the top half of the choices in either menu (filters or effects), but nothing below the line from 'Artistic' on down. Is there a plug-in I need, etc.? Or what images are able to utilize those choices? I've tried changing from CMYK and rasterizing (if I did that right), but nothing. I want to specifically use stained glass on a rectangle now, but would love to choose ANY of the effects/filters for future projects.

Hi Melinda,

Your documents need to be in RGB Color mode, not just the image. Also, Stained glass works best with some sort of color shift in the image/rectangle for it to show the glass effect. Solid color shapes will not work well. To really see it shine, try it on a placed image first.
