Adobe Illustrator/How to change gradient colors to a specific color at the same time!
Expert: Kevin Stohlmeyer - 10/26/2011
QuestionQUESTION: Dear Mr. Kevin!
I am LUCK, using AI CS5. I applied many gradient colors in my file and I noted that most gradient colors in my file are Redial Gradients. I would like to change the Redial Gradients to Red Colors. Now I select one Redial Gradient and change to a red color. It means that I select one by one gradient color and change to a red color.
I am very sure it really takes so long to finish changing to red colors. What must I do to change all Redial Gradient Colors to Red colors at the same time (in a fast way)?
Please help to explain and tel me how to figure it out. I am really very anxious to know how to solve it.
I am looking forward to hearing from you as soon as possible.
Thanks a lot and best wishes!
My best regards,
LUCK
ANSWER: Hi Luck,
Have you tried to select same fills using the Select menu? Select an object with the gradient fill, and then go to Select>Same>Fill Color. It should select all the same gradients. Next time, you can change the swatch to a global color, which will allow you to change them all at once using the swatch. (Double click the swatch in the panel to get options).
Thanks
Kevin

QUESTION: Good Morning, dear Mr. Kevin!
I was trying all options in Select Menus, but I still can't get it solved in the fast way. What must I do then?
Thanks a lot.
I am looking forward to hearing from you.
My Kindest Regards,
LUCK
AnswerHI Luck,
You don't need to try all options, just select one item with the gradient you wish to change, then go to the menu and choose Select>Same>Fill Color.
This will only work if every item has the same color gradient. If each one is slightly different, then the only way is to select them manually (select multiples using shift key) and change them.
Thanks
Kevin
