QUESTION: Do you know how to achieve the shading used on professional certificates and diplomas? I've attached an image for an example. Just curious how to get that drop shadow effect.

ANSWER: Hi Brandon,

With the text object selected with the selection tool, go to Effects>Stylize>Drop Shadow. Adjust ad needed.

Thanks

QUESTION: It doesn't show well, but it's not a normal drop shadow. It has "lines" as the shadow. I reattached a zoomed in view of it to show you.

Answer
Hi Brandon,

One way to achieve this is to use a pattern fill. Basically, duplicate the word, then create outlines. Then go to your swatches panel and load a swatch library from the patterns section. Ther should be a fill similar to your image.

Thanks

Kevin
