Adobe Illustrator/Resizing

Question
When making a circle using the eclipse tool the shape is coming out as an oval.  If I change my W coordinate 10 1 inch the H coorinate automatically changes to 0.9852 inches.  I cannot get both the W and H coordinates to equal 1".  I don't know much about Illustrator, but have been using it for basic things for about a year.  This has just begun to happen.  It also happens with any shape if I try to resize it.

Answer
Hi Zina,

Hold the shift key when you create an ellipse will keep it circular. But after you are done and want to resize, notice the chain link between the W&H values. Click it to unlink the two. It should then allow you to independently change the value.

Thanks
