Question
HELP!!!
I am learning to become an expert t-shirt designer.  I have an amazing image and want to turn everything "black" into one layer and one shape that can be selected with the black arrow and then edited to a new color.  When I select it and change the color, all of the empty spaces in the center of my art work also turn black, creating a silhouette, how can I merge all of the black "ink" on the screen, into one unified shape that will maintain its appearance when I edit the color??

Answer
Hi Jordan,

The issue is your image is grouped. You can select it with the Selection tool (black arrow) and go to object>Ungroup until it is broken apart into separate pieces. Then deselect your image and reselect one black piece. Then you can go to Select Menu>Same>Fill Color. This will choose ALL you black ink elements. You can then group those items together using Object>Group. Now when you choose one piece, they will all select and change at the same time.

Thanks

Kevin
