Adobe Illustrator/Clipping Mask!

Question
Hi, Dear Kevin!

I am using AI CS5. I know how to use the clipping mask. I know that when using clipping mask, only wanted parts are shown, but it will show all details of the image if editing the clipping mask or releasing clipping mask. According to the above case, I wonder that can I cut off the image without the unwanted parts? I mean only the wanted parts are shown and unwanted parts are completely removed. If it's not clear enough, please let me know.

Thanks a lot and I am looking forward to hearing from you all.

My Kindest Regards,

LUCK

Answer
Hi Luck,

You can delete other vector shapes using the top object via the Pathfinder panel. You will choose the "Divide" button and this will cut apart the shapes. You can then manually remove the excess pieces. This will not work with placed images or raster effects.

Thanks

Kevin
