Adobe Illustrator/Illustrator C5 question on brushes

Question
I have drawn a circle with gradient inside and would like to drag this into my brushes, however it won't accept this, so I tried rasterizing it but that has not worked, do you know why this would be?
Not sure how much RAM and hard drive space I have.

Thanks
Stephanie

Answer
Hi Stephanie,

Gradients are not allowed as certain types of brushes. Your best bet is to expand all the way until you have individual shapes for the gradient, which depending on the complexity may be preventing you from creating a brush. RAM really wont have an impact on this anyway. If your shape is too complex, it may not work.
