Adobe Illustrator/Illustrator CS5 No stray points, still weird lines

Question
QUESTION: I'm using Adobe Illustrator CS5.  When I "Save for Web and Devices" and get the preview, I can see a couple horizontal lines that are not a part of my design.  In the past, this has meant that I have some stray points somewhere in the design.  Once I deleted them, everything was fine.  This time I can't find any stray points.  I have used "Select, Object, Stray Points" and it shows nothing.  I have selected each object and then "Object, Path, Clean up" and it says there is nothing to clean up.  I have "Selected all" and there doesn't appear to be anything extra on the artboard or in the space around the page.  What can I do to fix this?

ANSWER: HI Andrea,

Have you viewed your image after you saved for web? What format are you saving out to? Are you reducing the file size (pixels) in Save for Web?

I need some more information to try and answer this more precisely.

Thanks

Kevin

QUESTION: Hi Kevin, Thanks so much for your response.  I have viewed the image after I Saved for Web and the additional lines are still there.  The original image is 1.85M, I'm saving it as a high quality jpeg that is 45.94K.

Thanks,
Andrea

Answer
Hi Andrea

Are you reducing the physical size (designing larger than 100% and reducing the size in save for web)? It could be that you are reducing it too much in SFW. Try scaling down the illustrator artwork first then go to SFW. Another option if available is to open the AI file in photoshop.

Let me know if this works or not.

Thanks

Kevin
