Adobe Illustrator/Illustrator using shift key shortcut

Question
In all the years I've used Illustrator, I've been able to hold down the shift key to capture multiple objects, scale objects, etc.  Now, all of a sudden, the shift key does not work for this type of application.  I'm wondering if there is a setting that I have to adjust, etc.
Help!

Answer
Hi Kelli,

This isn't an Illustrator issue, it sounds like either your keyboard is malfunctioning or something else. There is no setting to turn this on or off. Also make sure you are not in isolation mode or some other setup that would prevent you from selecting multiple objects in general.

Thanks

Kevin
