Adobe Illustrator/making text become shapes

Question
Hello:
I would like to take a list of names and force/create them into a shape with no distortion. Is there a way to fit text into a shape and can the shape be things other than just a star, circle or square?

Answer
Hi Karin,

You can use the Area Type tool (found under the Type tool) to add text inside any shape you create. The shape can be anything you can create using the pen tool. It just has to be an enclosed shape in order to have the text inside of the shape.

Thanks
