You are here:

Adobe Illustrator/Text warp with mesh WITHOUT vertical distortion?

Question
Hi,

I've been struggling with this one for a long time. I use text with a square top, and curved bottom quite a bit. I use the envelope distort, and have used the warp, mesh, and top object methods. I can't seem to find a good method that keeps the vertical lines absolutely vertical, while only creating a bottom curve. I've had the best luck with the distort with mesh option, but always require a lot of tweaking. Is there an easier way?

Thanks In Advance,
Tom

Answer
Hi Tom,

I personally like to use Effects>Warp and choose the appropriate warp when using text. This keeps the text editable and gives me better results than envelope or mesh warps. "Arc Lower" would be the one you are looking for.

Thanks
