Adobe Illustrator/Page Size

Question
I have just simply been wondering why in Illustrator does it have a maximum page size? I know that its 227x227 but why are you not allowed to go bigger? Is it a program issue?

Please respond at your quickest convenience.

Answer
Hi Amy

Its not an "issue" it is the limitations of the software. With Illustrator being a vector program, if you needed to go larger in size, you can create your image scaled down and then blow it back up flawlessly via your print service provider.

This is normal, standard operating procedure and is understood in the industry when using Illustrator. It is very rare to have to draw an image at the maximum size for any reason. The file size would be almost unmanageable. Any printer that I have ever worked with when I have had to create a large image (I'm talking bus wraps and billboards) have required that the images be a scaled version and never full-size.

Thanks
