I would like to print a 5000 documents that are the same, but I would like to use a different serial number for each one.  Similar to currency numbering or invoice numbering.  Is that possible in illustrator?

Hi again - I just tried to do what I told you to do. I changed my mind. I guess I'd do a "mail merge" in Word to create those ID numbers. That way, it's easier to insert the Mail Merge field where you want that number to appear (superimposed on your artwork). If you need a sample file, I can probably locate that ticket file I did and mail it to you when I get home (I'm at work).

Hi Shane.

Not that I know of.  You'd probably be better off using a simple program like Word where page numbers are inserted automatically.

If you're feeling really creative, you could create the artwork in Illustrator, export or save to an appropriate format and place into Word. Then insert Word's page numbers in the spot where you wanted the number to go.

You can start the page numbers at any number you want, like 000300 or whatever.

I did tickets like that once. Worked just fine!
