Question
I have a customer who is needing me to import a Catia V5 3D model (.iges) art
file which I will then need to open in Illustrator CS3 (Mac Based) to make press/
print ready. Do you know of a product, plug in, software that will allow me to
except this type of format into Illustrator?
Hi Scott,
I couldn't find freeware or shareware that would allow you to read iges files but couldn't the client export/save to something in between? You'll lose layers but it doesn't sound like you'll need them. Can they give you an EPS, PDF or a DWG? Those can all be read into AI (each has their quirks, so try different ones).
Check Hotdoor.com only if you've got a larger budget and are willing to invest... because they are not cheap and I'm not sure you really need something like that.

| Comment | Thanks for your help.. I have been receiving files from the customer in Illustrator format. I should have added that they wanted us to handle their side of things by offering a 3D format which would be a costly investment on our end. Thanks agan for you assistance - Scott Franks | ||
