Question
I was relieved to find SOME information about this error on your site here.  I've been plagued with this error consistently over the past few weeks.   You mentioned it being a Hard drive/ operating system error...any idea where I might find more information about this.  I'm desperate because I can't deliver on my projects and am testing employer's patience!

Answer
Hi Paige,

AllExperts is acting really strange this morning so I hope this gets to you.

Anyway, there is a wealth of articles at the adobe.com forums. Usually it's just people complaining about the error and how adobe claims it's a hardware error.

But there was this one person who troubleshot the problem until he found out exactly what was causing it (for him).

He found that creating brush strokes with a pressure-sensitive tablet, then using the knife tool to segment them, then saving the file... caused the error.

Another person on that same topic said that he, too, had a tablet and used the scissors tool often.

I found that pretty interesting and, having a tablet myself, I think it's plausible.

If you go to adobe.com and search the forum for "error 50" (leave out the minus sign) you'll find other discussions on it.

Good luck with it!

Expertise

I can help troubleshoot your Illustrator 9 through CS3 (and most CS4) problems and suggest the best way to get the results you need. Although I can help with some installation issues, my forte is prepress and how to use the tools and functions in the application itself.

I've been a graphic artist for over 20 years. Oh my God, 20 years.
