Question
Hi Amy,
I've recently updated to the CS2 suite and have been anxious to enjoy the great advantage of using InDesign...my first quest is to move 10 pages of AI docs into an InDesign doc and find that all AI docs get flattened any way I try to convert.  Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Dianne

Answer
Hi Dianne,

Well, off the top of my head, I'd have to guess that only native AI files would retain the layers and effects that you want to keep.

Have you tried just placing the files saved as Adobe Illustrator regular/native format?

I don't use InDesign regularly but that would be my first guess since that capability is what Adobe 'bragged' about when InDesign came out.

Expertise

I can help troubleshoot your Illustrator 9 through CS3 (and most CS4) problems and suggest the best way to get the results you need. Although I can help with some installation issues, my forte is prepress and how to use the tools and functions in the application itself.

I've been a graphic artist for over 20 years. Oh my God, 20 years.
