Adobe Illustrator/Font size

Question
We use Illustrator (CS on Mac & PC) to designs plaques on our CNC machine.  Problem is when we select a type size of say .5" the characters, after they are converted to curves, are quite a bit smaller because of the leading.  Is there a preference change or plug-in your aware of that will either remove the leading or allow the font size entered to be the font size after converting to curves?

Answer
Sorry it has taken me awhile to see this message.  I am away from my computer and the dial-up I use is awful (slow) so I am avoiding using it.

Anyway....  I have never experienced this problem.  When I convert to outlines the results are identical to my font.

What font are you using? I tested Times and Arial.
Now I don't set my type in INCHES...  I use points.  I wonder if this could be causing the problem?

Are your leading and your font size both set in inches???

Let me know so I can duplicate your environment to test this.

Once again, sorry for the delay. Happy Halloween.

Expertise

I can help troubleshoot your Illustrator 9 through CS3 (and most CS4) problems and suggest the best way to get the results you need. Although I can help with some installation issues, my forte is prepress and how to use the tools and functions in the application itself.

I've been a graphic artist for over 20 years. Oh my God, 20 years.
