Question
I am trying to make a collage of photographs. I want to use the gradient tool
to blend the edges of the photos together. i know i need to make new
channels but i can't seem to find the option to do so. can you refresh my
memory on how to perform this task?

Answer
Hi Amy,

I see you asked this question in the Adobe Illustrator category, where I am registered as an expert.

This sounds like something you probably want to do in PhotoShop - if you want to play with channels, etc.

If that's the case, I'd ask an expert in the PhotoShop category.

I use PhotoShop, too, but I'm not an expert. If it were me, I'd just put each photo on its own layer, select and feather each photo and gaussian blur its edges, then flatten the whole thing.

Expertise

I can help troubleshoot your Illustrator 9 through CS3 (and most CS4) problems and suggest the best way to get the results you need. Although I can help with some installation issues, my forte is prepress and how to use the tools and functions in the application itself.

Experience

I've been a graphic artist for over 20 years. Oh my God, 20 years.
