Question
Hi,

I am using Illustrator 10, I would like to create a percentage of
the color selected. say 70% of the yellow instead of a full 100%.
Right now I can place colors on the gradient bar but I cannot
click on them and reduce the percentage. Can you pls advise?

Thanks,

Answer
Hi Stella,

I am nowhere near a copy of Illustrator (I'm visiting family) so thanks for your patience.

Create the percentage you want by creating a SPOT COLOR first in the swatch window.  To do this, simply create a new swatch of your yellow, double click on its swatch in the swatch window and change it to SPOT color (versus process).

After doing that, you will now see a percentage slider bar in the color window whenever you click on that swatch.

Use the drag and drop method to drag colors onto the gradient window.  Using that tint percentage slider bar, create the percentage you want and drag it from that sample right to the gradient window.

I apologize for the brief kludgy response but my sister is screaming at me to get in the car!!!!
