Adobe Illustrator/Gradients in text objects
Expert: Amy - 6/15/2005
QuestionAmy, you are the best
Well, it seems that there's a little difference between AI 9 and CS, I've never worked with 9 version so I'm guessing here. In CS, creating a new text, selecting the text with the black arrow, in the appearance window it shows the following:
Type
Characters
Default Transparency
So it was a bit confussing for me what you told, cause there wasn't no stroke nor fill items in there, but I have just discovered the way it should be done (thanks to you), and here it goes:
Selecting the text object (with the black arrow), in the appearance window, "Characters" should be selected. Clicking in the options arrow (top right of this little window) there are Add New Fill and Add New Stroke options, Add New Fill shall be selected and that's it, now you can select any fill you want, gradient nor gradient, or whatever.
Thank you very, very much Amy.
I really enjoy reading your answers, I've learned lots reading you.
Have a good morning Amy

AnswerHi Juan!
Glad you figured it out! It is very frustrating sometimes that I don't have a copy of CS because a lot of people are using it now. I just find that version 9 has everything I need. But there are some minor differences in the menus and palettes and I guess we found one of them today! I will keep it in mind for the next person who asks this question.
Congratulations on making it work and don't hesitate to ask me further questions on Illustrator!
Happy Illustrating!
