Hi Amy, l would like to know can Illustrator 10 PC version type chinese in a windows Xp OS? l am on a os XP home, l was thinking to purchase a windows illustrator 10 which can typr chinese.  thanks & have a nice day.

Hi there.

I'm not familiar with all the different versions of the Chinese language but Illustrator 10 (the U.S. version) can handle Asian characters in fonts such as "PMingLiU", "NSimSun", "SimHei" which are installed with Microsoft's Asian Language Recognition components.

There are instructions for making sure you have Microsoft's Asian Language Recognition installed in the link below.

Some people find it easier to type their text into Word and paste it into Illustrator but you still need Asian Language Recognition installed.

Note that if you have a Chinese version of an operating system, you'll need to purchase the Chinese version of Illustrator. Adobe doesn't support the Chinese verison of Illustrator when run on English Operating system or vice versa.
