Adobe Illustrator/Illustrator 7 incompatibility w/Mac OS X system

Question
Hello,

I purchased an iMac and soon discovered my Adobe Illustrator 7.0 and Photoshop 4.0 are not compatible with the new system.  This really upset me, but there's no way of going back now.  I was told that there is a conversion software that would allow me to still use my older software with the new Mac OS X system.   Please advise if that's the case and if so, would you know who sells it?   I'm not made out of money and shelling out another $1,000 plus for all new software is not possible for me at this time.  Thank you,

Answer
Hi Shelly,

I don't know of any conversion software that makes the old software function on an iMac, sorry.

I work on a PC, so I know very little about Macintosh system software. You might try asking a Mac specialist about Mac system utilities that might do this. I think there are some on allExperts. I do know there are people who run OS9 in order to make their software function. Perhaps a downgrade would be less expensive.

I understand your frustration. I ran Illustrator 9 until a half a year ago because I could not afford new software. I could not be happier that I finally upgraded, though!

Expertise

I can help troubleshoot your Illustrator 9 through CS3 (and most CS4) problems and suggest the best way to get the results you need. Although I can help with some installation issues, my forte is prepress and how to use the tools and functions in the application itself.

I've been a graphic artist for over 20 years. Oh my God, 20 years.
